Shoplifting Lawyers at Outlets Bergen Town CenterBergen Town Center Shoplifting Lawyer

The Outlets at Bergen Town Center is one of several malls within a close proximity including Garden State Plaza and Paramus Park. However, at over 900,000 square feet of retail space, the Bergen Town Center Outlets hold their own weight when it comes to generating revenue and attracting shoppers. In fact, this group of malls and shopping centers makes Paramus the highest retail generating town in the entire country. The combination of indoor and outdoor shopping as well as a mix of department stores and traditional shopping opportunities like grocery shopping help drive a constant slow of business into the outlets. And when there is that many people in one spot, something is always bound to happen. In this case, it normally comes in the form of shoplifting arrests – and a lot of them. This is a big reason why the Paramus Municipal Court is usually flooded with defendants facing shoplifting crimes during any normal session.

Shoplifting Arrests at Bergen Town Center Outlets

The Bergen Town Center Outlets is home a variety of department stores and other shopping which includes Marshalls, Nordstrom Rack, Target, Whole Foods Market, Lowe’s, CVS, Dressbarn, Banana Republic, GAP, Century 21, Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, Guess, Adidas, Nike, H&M, Old Navy, Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus. These major retailers and stores spend millions each and every year on merchandise recovery by training and employing teams of loss prevention officers. Most of the corporations listed above have made a major push over the last couple decades to stump out shoplifting crimes that kill their bottom dollar and end up jacking up retail prices. That is why they have invested in widespread high-tech surveillance systems and other tactics geared at catching and stopping would-be shoplifters, including in some cases even hiring off-duty police officers to work the doors. This all translates into more and more shoplifting arrests each year. Shoplifting Attorney for Bergen Outlets Arrest

The Outlets at Bergen Town Center first opened in 1957, making it the second oldest mall in New Jersey behind Garden State Plaza however there have been several large scale renovations and expansions of the shopping center to keep up with the modern demand. The Bergen Town Center now consists of both an indoor mall and exterior outlying stores and occupies a massive 105 acres, which is actually split between two Bergen County towns – Paramus and Maywood. The location for the mall was carefully chosen at the junction of Route 4 and Forest Avenue, and includes a separate shopping strip, south of Route 4 connected to the rest of the property via a pedestrian bridge. The mall has over the years included community spaces, including a chapel, theater for live dramas, post office, auditorium, ice rink, bowling alley and a children’s amusement ride area, and is the current location of the Bergen County Museum. Like other malls and shopping centers in the area, the outlets are subject Bergen County’s blue laws, which requires the mall to be closed on Sundays; except for some restaurants and other non-clothing tenants. In a lot of way multiple functioning space does not just simply serve as a mall but is truly a town center.
